PARISH COUNCIL OF ST. PATRICK'S IN ARMONK

 MINUTES OF MEETING ON  OCTOBER 9th,  2003 A.D.  

            Tyler Fraites reported for Teen Life.  Out of a total membership of 22 teens, 12 attended the C.Y.O. county picnic and 12 will attend the convention.  On October 26th the teens will visit the Ruth Taylor Nursing Home.  A cell phone drive will be held to benefit both Blair Lodge and Ruth Taylor.  Reporting for the Building Committee Joe Looney noted that the Parish Center will probably be finished by mid-November. Ann O’Sullivan reported that there are 927 families in the parish and 365 families in C.C.D.

            Father Quinn thanked Sister Mary Virginia of St. Agnes Hospital for their statue of St. Agnes, chapel furniture, and tabernacle which will grace our chapel in the Parish Center.  Father announced that October 20th will be a Night of Recollection for 8th graders and their parents as well as for C.Y.O. coaches.   The Fall Festival will be on Saturday, October 25th.  

            Reporting for the Social Concerns Committee Ann Silvestri thanked the parish for its generosity to the Food Pantry over the last month.  St. Patrick’s will support Holy Innocents’ Midnight Run for the New York City homeless with donations of men’s clothing and toiletries. Our drive will be from October 24th to November 6th.  There will be Christmas present drives for the children of the women in the Bedford Hills Correctional Facility and for the residents of the Ruth Taylor Nursing Home.

            Maureen Lindgren presented 3 reports for Tom Lindgren.  C.Y.O. basketball membership numbers 198 children with 20 teams for boys and girls from 3-8th grade.  Practice will be at North Castle Recreation until Thanksgiving.  The Vicariate for Northern Westchester discussed future parish consolidations at a recent meeting which Tom attended.  Tom suggested that financial studies be conducted going back over 10 years to see how many parishes are growing before decisions are made to consolidate.  A cocktail party for 87 families new to the parish will be held on Friday, October 24th. Father Quinn noted that Johanna Golden gave him a volunteer parish ministry form to compile for distribution to the new families at the party.

            Present at the October 9th, 2003 A.D. meeting were Ann Silvestri, Nina Pavone, Marureen Lindgren, Joe Looney, Lynn Watson, Barrie Watson, Tyler Fraites, Vincent Greco, Thomas D’Agostino, Father John Quinn and Ann O’ Sullivan.  

            The next meeting of the Parish Council will be on Thursday, November 13th at 7:30 P.M.
