PARISH COUNCIL OF ST. PATRICK'S IN ARMONK

 MINUTES OF MEETING ON  SEPTEMBER 11th,  2003 A.D.

 

            Father Quinn invited the parish to celebrate Sister Mary Rose Golden’s diamond jubilee (60 years as a sister) on September 28th at the 10:30 A.M. Mass and Parents Group reception afterwards.  The Respect Life Society will sponsor the Blessing of New and Expectant Parents on Sunday, October 19th at the 10:30 A.M. Mass. The Fall Festival will be on Saturday, October 25th beginning at the 5:30P.M. Mass.   St. Patrick’s annual Christmas parties for parish volunteers will be on Friday, December 5th and Saturday, December 6th.  Father Quinn has invited Cardinal Egan to officiate at the dedication of the Parish Center on Sunday, June 13th, 2004 A.D.

            Tom Lindgren thanked Joe Looney, Guy Mezzancello and the Building Committee for their outstanding work.  Construction is ahead of schedule. St. Patrick’s basketball team expects to start practicing in the Parish Center the first week in November and will schedule home games starting November 22nd.  Open gym is planned on Fridays from 7:00 P.M. - 9:00 P.M. 

            The additional space available to the parish in the Parish Center will make it possible to expand parish ministries and activities. To recruit volunteers for those ministries and activities Father Quinn will compile an annotated list of existing parish ministries and Jo Golden will prepare a parish-wide volunteer form for publication in the church bulletin. Volunteers are especially needed to chair proposed ministries such as a Women’s Guild and a Men’s Guild.

            Bob Ballengee of the Social Concerns Committee thanked the parish for its generosity to the Food Pantry, the Coalition for the Hungry and the Homeless, and the St. Vincent de Paul Society.  Clothing and toiletries are sought for the next Midnight Run from Holy Innocents on November 8th.  Joanne McMahon reported that Teen Life had its first meeting of the school year. New officers have been elected.  Bud Wenzel of the Religious Education Committee requested the support of the whole parish for the children in the program.  Hall monitors are needed.

            The next meeting of the Parish Council will be on Thursday, October 9th at 7:30 P.M.
