Church of St. Patrick in Armonk

PARISH COUNCIL OF ST. PATRICK'S IN ARMONK

MINUTES OF MEETING ON  JUNE 12th,  2003 A.D.

John Tartaglia reported that the Religious Education Committee has formed 2 subcommittees, the first of which will develop a code of conduct and procedures for insuring orderly student conduct.  The second, a subcommittee of educators, chaired by Nick Cerullo will establish a teacher development program.  That subcommittee will make professional teachers available at religious education sessions.  The Religious Education Committee will present a policy statement to the Parish Council at its next meeting for its review and recommendation.

St. Patrick’s received the mortgage for the Parish Center and deposited a partial payment of over $500,000 in the Building Account today.  Father thanked the parishioners for their pledges and good will which ensured that St. Patrick’s was treated fairly and generously.

Father Quinn consulted with the Parish Council on Archdiocesan long term planning for the parishes in northern Westchester and Putnam counties.  Father distributed a spreadsheet entitled, “Final Vital Archdiocesan Statistics 2001-2002” which compared statistics such as average Sunday Mass attendance for each of the parishes in the vicariate of northern Westchester and Putnam counties.  Another spreadsheet listed county statistics, an example of which is weekday Mass attendance in each of the 10 counties of the Archdiocese as a percentage of the total.  The table, “Archdiocese of New York Priest Personnel May 2003,” highlighted the fact there are 558 active Archdiocesan priests. It noted that, of these, there are 408 priests and 40 senior priests serving in parishes.  Statistics were included for each category of service and by age distribution of active priests.  The number of people attending Mass per priest by county was also given in a final table.

Bob Ballengee summarized the activities of the Social Concerns Committee for the past 2 months.  Mary Jane Fazio expressed her appreciation for the devotional candles in the vestibule of the church and for the pew restoration project.
