Church of St. Patrick in Armonk

PARISH COUNCIL OF ST. PATRICK'S IN ARMONK

MINUTES OF MEETING ON  MAY 8th,  2003 A.D.

Father Quinn welcomed everyone to the meeting.  Ann Silvestri led the Parish Council in the Evening Prayer.

After discussing PCA International’s proposal for a church family album the Parish Council reached a consensus not to accept the proposal at the present time.

Father Quinn reported that First Communion on May 3rd went beautifully.  The First Communion reunion followed by the May Crowning will take place on Sunday.  This Saturday 65 students will be confirmed.  Father Quinn expressed his appreciation to Johanna Golden and the Parents’ Group for their tremendous support of the sacramental program.

Father Quinn charged the newly formed Religious Education Committee with developing and implementing a student conduct policy statement consistent with the goal of the religious education program.  That goal as expressed in John Tartaglia’s draft is “to instill in our students an understanding of the fundamental principles of Catholicism with an attitude of reverence, integrity, obedience, respect, and maturity.”  The committee plans to present a policy statement to the Parish Council before September for its review and recommendation to Father Quinn.

During the discussion that followed the point was made that Religious Education Committee membership should be representative of the parish.  The need for a positive approach that involved parents, catechists, and students was stressed.  Ann O’Sullivan asked Sister Mary Rose Golden and Johanna Golden to serve on the committee and both were pleased to accept.

Maureen Lindgren volunteered to prepare religious education students to plan and assist at 2 Masses a month starting in September.  Ann O’Sullivan was happy to accept her offer.

Tom Lindgren reported that construction on the Parish Center is proceeding smoothly and is on schedule.  The concrete will be poured on Wednesday.
