Church of St. Patrick in Armonk

PARISH COUNCIL OF ST. PATRICK'S IN ARMONK

MINUTES OF MEETING ON  MARCH 13th,  2003 A.D.

Father Quinn welcomed everyone to the meeting.  Ann Silvestri led the Parish Council in the Evening Prayer.

Father Quinn announced that 340 people plan to attend the parish’s St. Patrick’s Day Dinner Dance on Saturday.  At the dance, Joe Looney and members of the Building Committee will give an update on the Parish Center.  Excavation for the Parish Center began on Monday.

Statues of the Blessed Mother and St. Joseph will be delivered and installed in the vestibule of the Church on Friday.  Electric candles will be placed by the statues around Easter.

Father Quinn informed the Parish Council that St. Patrick’s has received another grant from the Archdiocese for a pilot program on total religious education that stresses the 4 levels of evangelization.  The original grant was for 3 years.  Ann O’Sullivan and Father Quinn will attend a meeting in Hopewell Junction concerning that program.

Father Quinn sent a letter to the parents of 4 Confirmation students, who have not been attending Sunday and Holyday Masses, informing them that that their children’s Confirmation will be deferred until May, 2004.  Confirmation will be contingent upon attendance at Sunday and Holyday Mass through that date and completion of this year’s studies.

John Tartaglia initiated a discussion on the misconduct of a number of religious education students.  To correct this situation, John suggested developing a specific code of conduct along with policies for handling misconduct.  He further recommended the formation of a committee to assist Father Quinn and Ann O’Sullivan in the development and implementation of that behavior code.  Bud Wenzel volunteered to network to develop awareness of the problem. Throughout the discussion the Parish Council affirmed its commitment to quality religious education and reiterated its support for Father Quinn, Ann O’Sullivan, and the catechists.  Appreciation was expressed to John and Bud for their suggestions.  Father Quinn noted that this important topic would be on the agenda for the next meeting which all were urged to attend.

Present at the March 13th, 2003 A.D. meeting were Arcangelo Bollella, Mary Jane Fazio, Ann O’Sullivan, Father John Quinn, Ann Silvestri, Corinne Strianese, Ed Strianese, Thomas Stuetz, John A. Tartaglia, Barrie Watson, Lynn Watson, and Bud Wenzel.
