Church of St. Patrick in Armonk

PARISH COUNCIL OF ST. PATRICK'S IN ARMONK

MINUTES OF MEETING ON  JANUARY 22nd ,  2004 A.D.

The Parish Council recited Vespers, the Evening Prayer of the Church.

Father Quinn reviewed a draft of the report he will send to the Vicariate concerning the Parish Council’s discussions on parish consolidations within the Archdiocese. There was a consensus that the report be enriched with statistics showing the tremendous growth in St. Patrick’s parish ministries, particularly the religious education program, over the last 10 years.  The ribbon cutting ceremony for the Parish Center was on November 22nd before the first basketball game.  It was followed by a parish-wide party at the Parish Center on November 28th.  On June 13th the formal dedication of the Parish Center will be conducted to coincide with the anniversary of the dedication of the Church.  Father Quinn reported that the altar furnishings the parish will receive from St. Agnes Hospital will include an altar, panels of the Blessed Mother and St. Joseph, a tabernacle, religious statues, an organ, Stations of the Cross, and candle racks.

Tom D’Agostino presented an outline on expanding the parish’s charitable works beyond the county, state and country. A consensus was reached to expand the parish’s charitable works by applying the fundraising methods used for local charities to global charities.  The first charity to benefit will be Sister Rose’s Indian mission. When the Parish Center is paid for the Parish Council may recommend budgeting a percentage of collections for global charities.  It was recommended that all parishioners use the envelope system.

The Social Concerns Committee thanked the parish for its generosity to the Food Pantry and to the Christmas present drives for the Children’s Center at the Bedford Hills Correctional Facility and the Ruth Taylor Nursing Home. A Midnight Run to provide men’s clothing and toiletries for the N.Y.C. homeless is in progress. A baby clothing drive is considered for Lent.

Father Quinn asked for prayers for the repose of the souls of Thomas Lindgren, Sr., father of Tom Lindgren, and for Henry Milano, father of Hank Milano.

Present were Ann Silvestri, Vincent Greco, Mary Lou Greco, Bob Ballengee, Joanne McMahon, Sheelagh Rabo, Frank Golden, Nancy Fischer, John Erickson, Michael Clohosey, Barrie Watson, Lynn Watson, Corinne Strianese, Thomas D’Agostino, Father John Quinn, Ann O’Sullivan, and Arcanglo Bollella.
