Church of St. Patrick in Armonk

PARISH COUNCIL OF ST. PATRICK IN ARMONK

MINUTES OF MEETING ON MAY 24th, 2001

Present at the May 24th, 2001 meeting were Alex Bacon, Louis Brusco, Pat Cummings, Thomas D'Agostino, John Erikson, Joe Finnerty, Althea R. Fusco, Frank Golden, Mary Lou Greco, Vincent Greco, Mary Harnett, Joanne McMahon, Bob Morris, Ann O'Sullivan, Ruth Pell, Father John Quinn, John Rocco, Roz Rocco, Mary Ryan, Ann Silvestri, Corinne Strianese, Edward Strianese, Barrie Watson, and Lynn Watson.

Father Quinn welcomed everyone to the meeting and asked that they pray for all who are sick, in particular, Rosemary Smith. Ann Silvestri led the Parish Council in Vespers.

Joanne McMahon announced that Jessica DiPietro was crowned County Queen of the Westchester C.Y.O, receiving her crown from outgoing Queen, Kristy Fasano, also of St. Patrick's. Anthony Pinto represented St. Patrick's as Parish King. Chris Fasano was elected President of the Westchester C.Y.O., after serving as County Treasurer and Vice President. The Parish Council congratulated Jessica, Kristy, Anthony and Chris on their outstanding leadership.      Reporting for Respect Life, Pat Cummings noted that 9 parents received the Blessing of New Parents. The Rosary is recited each Sunday in May before the 10:30 A.M. Mass.

Frank Golden congratulated Louis Brusco on his election to the Byram Hill Board of Education. The Parish Council joined in congratulating Dr. Brusco.

Alex Bacon told the Parish Council that two problems have arisen regarding the classroom extension project. The first is that construction will be delayed due to the need for an amended special permit. To obtain this permit, both a public hearing and a Town Meeting are required, which will delay the earliest date for the start of construction to June 28th. The second problem is that the bids for the project were much higher than originally anticipated.

Father Quinn informed the Parish Council that the results of early registration for the fall Religious Education Program indicate that people want more weekdays added to the program. By adding more days, the need for additional classrooms may decrease from 6 to 2, which suggests the need for re-evaluating the classroom extension project.

Given these developments the Parish Council decided more time was needed for discussion. Accordingly, the Parish Council agreed to adjourn the meeting and resume discussion at a meeting of the Parish Council on Tuesday, May 29th at 7:30 P.M.

Return to Parish Council.                  Return to home.
